How long does mascara last if Ive never used it before/often?

I know you are supposed to throw out mascara every three-four months for hygiene reasons, but ive only heard that if your actually using the mascara. If I never use it, ot its been unopened for 3-4 months should I still throw it away?How long does mascara last if Ive never used it before/often?
i would personally throw it out just to be on the safe side but, if u really want to keep it check out the condition of if, if i ts dry and smells funny definately throw it out, but if you feel its still moist and smells fresh you might be able to use it, but i wouldnt keep it for over a month. hope that helped!How long does mascara last if Ive never used it before/often?
Still throw it away. You never know, and better be safe then sorry! It has chemicals in it that help make your eye lashes the color that you want, water proof, smug free...etc... and those chemicals and expire too. Like milk. even if you dont open it, and its past its expiry date, would you drink it? If you would then take that chance. I wouldnt!

i wouldnt throw it out. i dont remember the last time i got new mascara and i dont use mine everyday but i use it often and mines still fine.
It depends on the quality of the mascara.
